Hello everyone and thanks for visiting my "Up With People" web page. This past summer I was accepted to participate in the "Up With People" Worldsmart program. The one year program will begin in July of 2000, and will take me to places that I only dreamed of....

The Up With People program is a Multi-Cultural Leadership program, which is designed to give students an experience which is unattainable through any other source. This experience will provide me with practical leadership skills and an opportunity of a lifetime. It will also provide me with an accelerated education and career opportunities, and global citizenship needed to give me the greatest chance for success in my future.

As a student in the Worldsmart program, I will spend one year traveling more than 30,000 miles to many countries on at least two separate continents. I will be living with more than 80 different host famlies in the communities that I visit, and I plan to research, and study their politics, history, and also their cultural traditions, and languages. I will participate in volunteer programs and community service projects in places such as local schools, nursing homes, and shelters. By taking part in these activities, I will learn to better understand community needs, social responsibility, and volunteerism.

The students in the Up With People Worldsmart program also perform a Broadway style show which inclides music, dance, and various other production elements from professional songwriters, choreographers, and musicians. This show is then performed over 100 times during the year long tour for more than 100,000 people worldwide.   "I look forward to traveling around the world and meeting thousands of new people as I perform with 150 students from more the 30 countries around the world."

I will be leaving in July of 2000 to spend six weeks in Denver, Colorado to learn the components of the "Up With People" show before I travel abroad.
